Nelson's Montana Fly Fishing News
Spring Time Fishing on Nelson’s – The
fishing has been great this spring with consistent, day long, midge
hatches and abundant BWO’s. The BWO’s have been hatching
in the early afternoon on overcast days. We’ve had reports
of the hatch lasting for up to 4 hours! Throughout the hatch,
try using a baetis compara dun in smaller sizes tailed by a CDC baetis
emerger. A great mid morning set up has been a size 18 baetis
compara dun tailed by a red midge larva. Other midge patterns
such as a CDC hatching midge, or a suspender midge have also been working
well. The rod fee is currently $75 and then goes up to $100 on
June 15th. Come take advantage of the excellent early season
fishing.
